The leadership of the Senate Democratic Caucus expressed sadness Sunday following the unexpected passing of veteran newsman Don Spain.
“Capitol Hill has lost a beacon of journalistic integrity,” Senator Lowe Finney of Jackson, the Caucus chairman, said.
“Don brought the trustworthy insight of a veteran to his work, and the people of Tennessee were better informed as a result. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and son.”
Senator Jim Kyle of Memphis, the Democratic leader in the Senate said:
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Don Spain. He was a fixture on Capitol Hill, and his program told the people of Tennessee about their government.
“I never saw Don angry. He was a fair and honest man.”
